Founders Hall
Haverford, PA
Haverford, one of America's leading liberal arts colleges, was founded on the Quaker values of individual dignity, academic strength, and tolerance.
Visitors are immediately impressed by the natural beauty of the Haverford campus. Located on a serene and self-contained campus just outside Philadelphia, Haverford's more than 200 acres features award-winning architecture and landscaping. The campus itself is a nationally recognized arboretum, with more than 400 species of trees and shrubs.
One of Haverford College's original structures, Founders Hall, underwent an extensive restoration and renovation. H2L2's challenge was to design a functional administrative facility that creatively integrated energy efficiency, handicapped accessibility, and environmental considerations while remaining sensitive to the historic nature of this 1830's building. A comprehensive analysis and design process, coupled with frequent visits to the site throughout construction, enabled H2L2 to meet that goal, resulting in a facility that is attractive to alumni, visitors, students, and to every member of the campus community.
