Just minutes from the Atlantic Ocean, Georgian Court University occupies the buildings and grounds of the former estate of railroad magnate Jay Gould. Beautiful formal gardens, statuary, fountains and buildings designed by the noted turn-of-the-century architect Bruce Price create an atmosphere of a by-gone era.
With the goal of gaining University status, Georgian Court College asked H2L2 to help develop their Master Plan. In addition to the issues of growth associated with university recognition, the Master Plan addressed the creation of an identifiable entry as well as study campus circulation and overall space utilization. The eventual solution involved an innovative placement of new buildings that engage the existing campus architecture and grounds in a way that created new uses and functions for the entire campus. The new buildings proposed include new residence halls, new academic buildings, a new field house/wellness center, and the creation of a pedestrian boulevard.
